Revision of Extreme North Dakota Terrifically Intense Country Klassic (END-TICK) from Thu, 05/12/2022 - 10:02

June 4, 2022, Lake Park, MN

(looking for a fall ride/event? Try END-CHIP in October)

Race Summary:

Whether you have gravel grit in your veins or are wanting to check out gravel riding this event can meet your needs. For those wanting to push the distance 200km (124 miles) would be your choice. Wanting time in the saddle? The 150km (93 miles) distance can test your chamois!  A metric century (100km-62 miles) is always a great distance. Those wanting to test their bike and legs for the first time can choose the 50km (31 mile) option. No matter which distance you choose the overarching question is, "Can you pull it off?"

Small town c-stores and/or self-service aid station options will assist your calorie and hydration needs. For the longer distances be prepared for 40-50 miles without aid. There is no sag wagon following riders. You are responsible for you.

This assures both accuracy of timing and maintaining a record of who is still enjoying the TICK adventure. You may choose to begin with others in a group. However, there will not be a distance specific, group start time. This way of starting allows for flexibility. It also makes those wanting to "place" in their respective distance embrace an individual time trial mindset.

Jona and Alica Baer turn over their massive shop with attached living space to be the TICK zone. If you want to stay on site, no problem! You can camp or take advantage of one of the beds inside. Too tired to drive home post-ride, no problem! Plenty of space to rest in comfort. There are bathrooms and a shower. Want to keep your own post-ride foods/beverages cold, no problem! There is plenty of refrigerator/freezer space.

Other details:

Printed cue cards will be available the day of the event for all distances. GPS tracks will also be available for downloading the Monday prior. The event director uses Ride with GPS for mapping and cue cards. All routes are physically checked for accuracy to insure proper signage and distances. Past routes can be seen by searching Ride with GPS.

Participants should be prepared for a variety of terrain and weather conditions. Gravel roads, minimum maintenance roads, single + double track trails, and pavement can be a part of each distance. Each participant is responsible for their physical, emotional, and mechanical needs. You are responsible for you.

It is recommended that you use both a front LED light and a rear red LED light while riding. Being visible helps with your safety as you traverse the curves, hills, and trails of the beautiful rural setting. Bright and/or reflective clothing is also a good choice. Helmets are mandatory for all riders.

If you want to stay at the start the night before, please contact ENDracing to make this known.  Please provide your own sleep system, towels, and hygiene items. Bathroom surfaces will be regularly sanitized. Your help and cooperation is greatly appreciated in maintaining the venue.

You are responsible for yourself on this journey. You are encouraged to abide by COVID-19 protocols as you see fit for yourself and others. Everyone is participating for a variety of reasons which include the enjoyment of other riders and the generous hospitality of the Baer family. Be respectful of others with whom you interact during the entire event. Your considerate actions and choices are appreciated by everyone involved with END-TICK.

*Gravel races are traditionally free, and we like that tradition. You're more than welcome to kick in some money to cover event costs (insurance, food, gas, etc.), but it's not required. All that we ask is that if you sign up, you actually show up, so we don't end up with tons of extra food laying around. (And if dropping some $$$ now helps you remember to show up, we're not going to stop you.)
