Revision of Extreme North Dakota Country Hills Invoking Plaudits (END-CHIP) from Wed, 10/07/2020 - 10:13

Lake Park, MN

Canceled in 2020

Race Summary:
Rural Minnesota gravel grinder (bike race).

In 2013, an October gravel bike event began as the “Woodchipper 100.” It was a word of mouth gathering of bikers that wanted a 100 mile challenge in the scenic hills around Rollag, Pelican Rapids, and Vergas, Minnesota. Various starting points were chosen but the essence of the ride remained.

END-CHIP (Country Hills Invoking Plaudits) continues the “Woodchipper” tradition with a few modifications to enhance the enjoyment of gravel road biking.

Other details:

The event will start and finish at the farm of Jona + Alicia Baer. At the end of their long driveway will be a multiple stall, concrete floor garage that will serve as our headquarters. Not only is this a garage, but a stove and refrigerator, tables and chairs, and two story attached living area with bathrooms and showers will be at our disposal.  You can spend the night prior to the ride by camping in their spacious yard or by claiming a bed. Food and beverages can be placed in their refrigerators. A warm, refreshing shower after 100 county miles is also an option. You can bring your own towels, etc. or some will be available, as well.

As is customary, food and beverages will be served post-ride. The menu will include chicken, rice, and black bean enchiladas, toppings, salty snacks, fruit, cookies, and whatever else needs to be used.

The 100k + 160k distances will have a self-service aid station with hydration and calorie needs. The 160k distance will pass by 1 c-store for bathroom + refueling. Be mindful that you are responsible for you! Prepare to be self-sufficient for your needs: physical, emotional, and mechanical.  Cue cards and gps route will be available prior to the event.

The ride will occur regardless of weather conditions. Be prepared to ride and embrace whatever may occur over the miles.

*Gravel races are traditionally free, and we like that tradition. You're more than welcome to kick in some money to cover event costs (insurance, food, gas, etc.), but it's not required. All that we ask is that if sign up, you actually show up, so we don't end up with tons of extra food laying around. (And if dropping some $$$ now helps you remember to show up, we're not going to stop you.)
