Race Summary:
50K or 100K trail running race. 100% hilly trails. Three aid stations.
There are things you can't begin to understand until you confront them, face-to-face. Like a 50K trail endurance event, for instance. Somewhere around mile 28 you realize you have never been out this far for this long and for better or worse, you become introduced to yourself. Here's what I learned on first outing: really cool people do this, really cool people organize this, really cool people are there to support, advise and encourage, and perhaps most importantly, it really is okay to try something new on race day, so long as it's bacon.
